These pieces go further than a press release. We are interested in how a product was actually designed, how it is made, what the material and tolerance decisions were, what the company tests and how, and what problem someone was trying to solve. Smaller shops are especially worth the trouble, because the larger publications rarely stop to ask.
Access and material support are sometimes part of how these are produced. That buys the visit, the interview and the loan of equipment. It does not buy the conclusion.
